Teacher helping student on task

Modesto City Schools is excited to announce the upcoming TK-Kinder enrollment campaign for the 2025-2026 school year. With Transitional Kindergarten (TK) expanding to serve more 4-year-olds across California, MCS is proud to offer this vital early learning opportunity to prepare students for a lifetime of success.

Recently, staff from the MCS Communications Division visited one of our exceptional TK classrooms to capture the magic of early learning in action. Chriselda Guajardo’s Dual Language Academy (DLA) classroom is a vibrant space where young learners explore, grow, and thrive. Supported by her dedicated paraprofessional, Araceli Juarez, Guajardo creates a welcoming environment that students will benefit from for years to come.

“TK classrooms give children the opportunity to explore their environment, gain independence, and build social skills, things they may not always get at daycare or home,” Guajardo explained.

Even just halfway through the school year, her students’ growth is remarkable.

“Our little scholars are already making strides in bilingual education,” Guajardo said. “Spanish speakers are learning English, and English learners are picking up Spanish. It's incredible to see their progress.”

The benefits of bilingualism extend far beyond the classroom. These skills open doors to college, careers, and better family communication.

“I wish my own children had the opportunity to experience this program,” she added.

As Modesto City Schools prepares to welcome the next generation of scholars, we encourage staff, families, and the community to share the benefits of TK and Kindergarten with friends and neighbors.

Let’s grow bright futures together at Modesto City Schools!
